Firstly, we visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Morocco. It is located on the west coast of the city. After breakfast, we drive along the coastline to Rabat. Rabat, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, serves as the country’s current capital. It is located in northwestern Morocco. We dedicate the day to exploring the highlights of Fes with a knowledgeable guide. As Morocco’s cultural and religious center, Fes is also an imperial city. Firstly, we start the day by visiting the Royal Palace gate. UNESCO has listed the well-preserved medieval Medina as a World Heritage Site. You will visit the Blue Gate, or Bab Boujloud, the entrance of the old Medina. You will enter the Medina to visit the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, the Moulay Idris, and the tanneries.
Lastly, we arrive at the Quaraouin mosque and university, which is the world’s oldest university. After that, we leave the Medina to visit the Jewish quarter, also known as “the Mellah.” In the afternoon, we drive to an ancient fortress for a panoramic view of the Medina and the city of Fes. Finally, return to your riad.
After a warm breakfast, we drive south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane. The city is renowned for its frigid temperatures, snowfall, and the alpine-style architecture of its houses. It’s no surprise that people often refer to it as the Switzerland of Morocco.
Then the tour continues to the cedar forest, where the Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them while wandering in the forest. Later, we continue to Midelt, where we will have free time for lunch. Then we drive to Merzouga through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz valley. We will make stops along the way to enjoy the panoramic views.
In the afternoon, we reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga. Then you switch to camels and cross the sandy desert. You will stop at the top of a high dune to enjoy the sunset. Finally, you continue to the camp. You will enjoy the Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under the vast open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Be sure to wake up early to see the desert sunrise. After enjoying some free time for breakfast, you will ride the camel back to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting for you. We will dedicate the rest of the day to exploring the region of Merzouga, which boasts numerous incredible sites such as dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossil areas, and fabulous oases—all of which are perfect for numerous outdoor pursuits.
Firstly, we start our journey in Merzouga by driving off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Then we pay the nomads a visit in their handmade woven tent. Learn how they live while drinking Berber tea. Our next destination is the Khamlia village, where you will enjoy the Gnaoua music and dancing performances. The village’s inhabitants hail from sub-Saharan countries such as Mali and Sudan. We have some free time to enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Then we drive through the Berber village of Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves to reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved out a grand, red, cliff-sided canyon through the mountains. After breakfast, we continue our trip to Kalaat Mgouna to visit the Rose Valley. Every year in May, the Rose Valley hosts a Rose Festival. Locals showcase their rose-related products at this event. We then drive through the palm groves of Skoura. Later, we reach Ouarzazate, also known as the gate of the desert. We will explore the studios that hosted the filming of renowned movies.
We depart to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou UNESCO World Heritage Site. Furthermore, the Kasbah has appeared in many movies, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, etc., and in TV series, including Game of Thrones. Then we continue to Marrakech.
