Day 1: Marrakech ,Atlas Mountains, Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, Dades Valley

Depart from Marrakech at 8 a.m. for the Boumalne dades. We will drive across the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2260 meters of altitude. This will give fantastic panoramic views.
 
We will have time to enjoy impressive landscapes and Berber villages. We’ll also take a break for coffee or mint tea in a picturesque location.
 
After our lunch break, we will visit the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular film set location. This Berber Kasbah is a significant place for international filmmakers.
 
They have made more than 50 movies here. It was also one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old Salt Road. Caravans brought enslaved people, gold, ivory, and salt. You can still see the salt pans in the valley.
 
Then, we’ll pass through the strategic city of Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa. After that, we will continue to the Dades Valley. We will pass through Skoura Palm Grove, visiting Amridil Kasbah, Kelaat M´gouna, and the Berber villages along the valley. We will spend the night in the Dades Gorges.

2nd Day: Dades gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga desert

Today, after breakfast, we will drive through the valley. We will see the unique rock formation called “the monkey fingers.” You will also visit the 19th-century Kasbah of Ait Youl, which is still standing.
 
We will leave the Dades Valley and continue toward Tinghir. You’ll see panoramic views of the old adobe Berber villages. They overlook the spectacular Todra Valley.​ In the gorge, we will walk between the 300-meter-high red cliff walls. Many rock climbers come to enjoy the challenges it presents.
 
We’ll continue to Erfoud and Tinejdad. We’ll have lunch there before we leave for the Sahara Desert village of Merzouga. We will greet you with a glass of mint tea before you check into your hotel or riad.

3rd Day: Merzouga – Camel Trekking – and night in dunes of Erg Chebbi

After a traditional local breakfast, we will explore the area. We will meet some locals and discover different ways of living. Descendants of enslaved Sudanese people inhabit the village of Khamlia. Through their Gnaoua music and songs, they tell stories of their past.
 
Not far from this village, you can see the lake of Merzouga and a seasonal flock of flamingos. There will be time to visit local Berber handicrafts for sale. This is an excellent opportunity to buy from the locals.
 
After lunch and a break, you will prepare to depart for the camel ride to explore the Erg Chebbi dunes. Spending the night in the desert camp under the stars will likely be a miserable experience. After dinner, some music, and songs, you will spend the night in a luxury desert camp.

4th Day: Merzouga Dunes – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Middle Atlas Mountains – Midelt

One of the highlights of the 5-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour is just before sunrise. Our local guides will wake you up early in the morning. You will have the chance to witness the best dawn of your life. The way the light changes as the sun comes up can be unique.​ You will then ride your camel back to the hotel for a well-earned breakfast and shower.
 
After a tasty breakfast, we will travel to Midelt via Rissani and Erfoud. In Rissani, you can stroll through the authentic souk. It has a colorful assortment of vegetables, spices, and dates.​ We will continue our journey along the magnificent Ziz Valley. We’ll stop to enjoy the panoramic view over the Ziz Gorge. Then, we’ll reach our hotel for dinner in Midelt.
 

5th Day: Midelt-Azrou Cedar Forest​ – Middle Atlas Mountain​ – Fes

​Our journey then continues as we travel to Fes. We will drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. They are home to the great cedar forests and the indigenous Barbary monkeys. You can see the monkeys in Azrou. They are fun to watch and they often steal food from parked cars. Then we drive to Ifrane. Known as the little Switzerland of Africa. This is because of its alpine-style architecture.
 

We will pause for photos and coffee before proceeding to Fes, the cultural capital. This is where the 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes ends with drop-off at your hotel.

This is a wonderful question! The vehicles we use depend on the number of travelers in your group. We usually use a Toyota Prado Land Cruiser TX, Ford 8 seater van, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus that can seat eight to seventeen passengers, as well as other comfortable automobiles.
